Logistics ManagerLocation:Seoul, KoreaJob Category:DistributionPOSITION SUMMARY:We are searching for an Logistics Manager to lead the management of freight & transportation and distribution in Korea. The position will involve closely coordinated support of activities within Gates's Distribution and Logistics operations and will require interaction with Gates S&OP, purchasing, manufacturing, sales & marketing, distribution and finance and 3PL service providers as well as suppliers and transportation service providers (e.g. carriers and forwarders) to optimize logistics services for process efficiency and cost-effectiveness.THE ROLEThis role is responsible for leading logistics Inbound and outbound strategies and actions plans to optimize total costs while assuring top tier service levels to all customers together with functional leaders (i.e. Innovation, Operations, Finance, HR, IT and Supply Chain). The authority of this role is to administer, direct and coordinate operational activities of the Local 3PL site(s) and the country level logistics network to achieve alignment and overall organization's objectives. In addition this role would have to liaise with Multi-discipline team including support functions, to delight our Internal and External stakeholders.YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The responsibilities of the role are to provide direction to implement the most effective logistics strategy, drive and establish a culture of high performance and associate engagement activities to support efforts to achieve good service levels to all customers. The role shall devise tactical activities to establish, post and utilise distribution metrics for effective focus on daily/weekly/monthly performance targets. In addition, it is to support key tasks, including Sales and Operations planning aligned with Regional vision and aspirations.The assigned territories include all associated businesses in Korea.The Logistics Manager's specific responsibilities will fall into three primary areas:Maximum 3 pointers per accountabilityAccountability #1: Customer (Internal / External Stakeholders)
  • Responsible for all or most of the followings; inventory control, warehousing, transportation & distribution,
  • Understand customer requirement and meet on-time delivery for AFF, AR, IPT and FP
  • Obsolete, excess, and slow moving inventory is properly identified discussed with S&OP for further action, and adjustments processed after approval
  • Use associated information systems to coordinate, manage, control the transaction and inventory movement;
  • Work with customers, suppliers and government officials to ensure that local delivery dates are met
  • Work closely with other departments to providing logistics services.
  • Always ensure custom regulation compliance.
Accountability #2: Process / Performance
  • Responsible for optimization of logistics management functions.
  • Use IT systems to manage stock levels, delivery times and transport costs;
  • Negotiate with 3PL and suppliers;
  • Develop business by gaining new contracts, analyzing logistical problems and producing new solutions;
  • Ensure all daily operations are managed effectively and any shortfalls are resolved within planned recovery times
  • Provide daily re-enforcement of sites responsibility to meet customer requirements within required shipment dates and deadlines
  • Continually try to improve and develop business performance within the constraints of legislation, fuel costs and rising environmental pressures
Accountability #3: People
  • Allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs;
  • Management of 3PL employees to use Gate's IT system for daily inventory In & Out process

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent reports to Distribution & Logistics Director EA&I & lead a team of 2-3 direct reports.YOUR QUALIFICATIONS/ QUALIFICATIONS & PREFERRED SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.This person must have at least 10 years hands on experience in transportation management and distribution management within a Logistics environment in the assigned countries or region.
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, materials, distribution management or related field is recommended
  • Over 10 years' of related experience with good understanding about automotive sales process & automotive and general industry is required
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Fluent in English (Both writing & speaking)
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong process management, leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding and strong logistics industry knowledge including global and regional transportation modes (ocean, air, road, integrator) and domestic transportation
  • Understanding of International Trade Regulation Compliance and International Customs Clearance regulations
  • Possess good knowledge of international business relations, import/export procedures, customs and excise requirements as well as transportation network
  • 5yrs ERP experience in Oracle, SAP
