Job DescriptionAs a Legal Counsel, you provide end-to- end legal support for both digital and physical store expansion and portfolio of H&M Group brands in Korea. Be a reliable business partner by providing legal and regulatory guidance, including but not limited to labor law, employment matters, health and safety, and data privacy, ensuring that it is in line with local laws and company guidelines.Key Responsibilities:
  • Review, draft and negotiate lease/tenancy agreements for H&M Group stores including legal documents related to construction and facilities from a pro-business perspective with minimal risk exposure to H&M.
  • Proactively advise on legal issues/disputes related to expansion and/or consolidation and draft responses and letters in relation to contentious matters.
  • Provide support on marketplace and partnership opportunities for online/digital projects.
  • Assist the Regional Head of Legal & PA to provide overall legal support for projects, disputes, and strategic initiatives. Liaise with and support external counsel engagements in relation to dispute resolution.
  • Assist in research and analysis on legal issues with cross-border element in business/ consumer laws and other laws relevant for the industry.
QualificationsTo be successful as a Legal Counsel, you have experience in an in-house legal function in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, ideally in a consumer business with digital and/or leasing experience. A self-starter who can work with minimum guidance and demonstrate a pro-active, positive attitude to their work with detail-oriented approach. Demonstrate a strong work ethic and a high energy level with ability to thrive in a busy, commercially oriented, and hands-on environment, working as a teamWhat you need to succeed:
  • Ability to speak fluently in Korean language and English Business Level is a must; confidence to communicate well to a range of audiences about the business and legal priorities in a multi-cultural and multi-level environment.
  • Experience with an international law firm or a multi-national corporation is required
  • 5 to 8 years of law firm and in-house legal experience in Korea;
  • Admitted to the Korean Bar Association (KBA), or possess equivalent legal qualifications and relevant experience in the industry (retail environment and leasing)
  • Grasp key drivers of the business and industry and quickly become immersed in the business and legal issues facing the company
