- Develop and lead the implementation of the Korea medical plan, ensure that this plan is in line with Santen Asia regional medical strategy
- Oversee the implementation of local medical plans for all prioritized products, pre-launch and commercial phase, in Korea, and ensure that these plans are in line with the regional medical strategy
- Work closely with regional cross-functional partners to pro-actively contribute to portfolio or brand strategy and development plans
- Identify unmet needs or data gaps in relation to Santen products and be able to translate it into relevant clinical studies in Korea
- Provide medical input for regional product development, promotional and commercial activities, review and approve regional promotional materials to ensure compliance with internal policies and/or external regulations where relevant
- Offer market access support and medical/scientific expertise to internal and external stakeholders as required on an ad-hoc basis
- Ensure optimal/effective utilization of field based MSLs and is accountable for their KPIs
- Provide medical input to the development of impactful medical education messages and materials as well as review and approve all medical communication materials to comply with relevant regulations in Santen Asia
- Facilitate the generation and dissemination of medical/scientific information to internal and external clients, including requests related to medical issues, practice trends, literature, etc. as appropriate
- Develop content of relevant internal training materials and deliver training by working closely with various stakeholders to develop and manage repository of materials
- Share scientific information with internal and external customers and serve as a trusted source of unbiased, accurate, up-to-date medical and scientific knowledge
- Engage with regional KOLs, MTLS, or key prescribers to develop insights into therapeutic areas and products, and develop strategic partnerships
- Support the identification, development, maintenance, and alignment of a network of leading regional KOLs/MTLs/key endorsers and other important stakeholders, including professional regional organizations
- Communicate relevant information from regional KOLs/MTLs/key endorsers to internal cross-functional stakeholders
- Organize, conducts and support regional and/or local advisory boards and medical or clinical study steering committees as required
- Provide support, when appropriate, in interacting with regional and/or local patient advocacy groups and their initiatives e.g. responding to clinical interest, gathering insights
- Explore post-registration medical data gaps and clinical trial needs and drive the development of necessary protocols at country level
- Lead the development of study proposals for post registration company-sponsored studies of Korean relevance
- Accountable for the internal review and governance of investigator-initiated studies in Korea
- Participate in study planning, e.g., with respect to evaluation of Korean business needs, timelines, grants and investigator/ site selection
- Participate in Korean study start-up meetings and other activities to provide the appropriate training and information to investigators and site personnel.
- A medical doctor or PhD in related life sciences with more than 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical medical affairs, preferably with an Ophthalmological background
- Demonstrated capability in developing and leading diverse, collaborative, and high-performing teams
- Prior experience in developing and executing regional Medical Affairs strategy, including key activities such as advisory board meetings, publications and KOL management within the eye health industry in Asia would be advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to shape thinking, challenge common perceptions and implement medical affairs tools to improve patient care and outcomes
- Ability to understand, anticipate and respond to relevant customers' needs in the short, medium and long term
- Relevant experience in applied science, with good analytical skills as applied to medical, scientific, and technical information
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, effectively interfaces with senior management
- Ethical working approach with patient-centric focus
- Ability to work positively and collaboratively in a matrix organization
- Able to travel, as required
- People management experience highly preferred
- Must be proficient in both Korean and English, written and verbal.
